How CHRP reads you
Know where you are. Then move.
What does CHRP actually look at?
CHRP reads your music listening behavior — what you play, when you play it, in what order, and how that moves against your own normal — and nothing else. There is no survey, no check-in, no wearable, and no microphone.
The reason is simple: you are already doing this. Choosing music is something people do dozens of times a day to change how they feel, without being asked and without thinking of it as data. That makes it a rare thing — a signal that does not decay because someone got tired of logging it.
Your baseline is your own. CHRP compares this week's you to previous-weeks you, not to a population average, so a naturally high-energy listener and a naturally quiet one both get a read that means something.
EPI Score is derived from music listening behavior — what someone plays, when, in what sequence, and how that deviates from their own baseline — not from surveys, check-ins, or wearables.
- Basis
- How the product is built. A description, not a research finding.
- What this does not establish
- Says nothing about accuracy. That the score is derived from behavior is a design fact; how well it reflects state is a question CHRP is still answering.
What are the dimensions CHRP tracks?
The dimensions are the read — EPI Score™, Balance, Calm, and Motivation — and they tell you where you are right now, the way an HRV number tells you something about your body without telling you what to do about it.
They are descriptive, not prescriptive. A low Calm week is not a verdict and not a diagnosis; it is a fact about your listening that you can now see instead of guess at. What you do with it is yours.
The app also surfaces Energy and Focus alongside these. Which dimensions make up the headline set is something we are actively refining as the product matures — the four above are the durable core.
What are the states CHRP helps you move toward?
The states are destinations — Flow, Ready, Recharge, and Recover — and they are what you pick when you want music to take you somewhere rather than just tell you where you are.
You already do this without naming it. The playlist before a workout and the one after a brutal day are not the same playlist, and the difference between them is not taste — it is intent. CHRP just makes the intent selectable.
Why does CHRP use two different sets of words?
Because knowing and moving are two different jobs, and one set of words cannot do both honestly. Dimensions answer “where am I?” States answer “where am I going?” — and collapsing them would hide the fact that a read is not a plan.
The closest everyday parallel is a fitness tracker. Your resting heart rate and your HRV are the read; the easy run, the interval session, and the rest day are the destinations. Nobody confuses the two, and nobody would want a tracker that reported “your interval-session score is 62.” CHRP works the same way.
The two never mix. There is no “Flow score” and no “Recovery dimension” — those phrases borrow a word from the wrong half and describe something CHRP does not do.
Who can see your data?
You can, and by default nobody else. When CHRP is deployed through a team, a unit, or an employer, that organization receives anonymous aggregate trends only — never your individual score, and never your name attached to one.
This is structural rather than a setting. There is no administrator screen where individual scores can be switched on, because the aggregate is what the organization receives in the first place. A privacy promise that depends on someone remembering to leave a toggle alone is not a promise.
The individual sees their own EPI Score. Organizations receive anonymous aggregate trends only, never individual data.
- Basis
- A structural property of the system design, not a policy setting an administrator can change.
- What this does not establish
- A statement about architecture. It is verifiable by review of the product, not by citation.
What does CHRP not do with what it reads?
CHRP does not diagnose you, does not assess your fitness for duty, and does not hand any organization a way to single you out. It reads how you listen, which is not the same as assessing your health.
The full standing list of what CHRP does not claim lives on the science page, alongside the evidence for what it does. Both belong in the same place, because a claim and its limit are the same claim.
