CHRP

The category

Emotional Performance Intelligence.

Emotional Performance Intelligence is the structured read of how you are doing, built from behavior you already produce — showing where you are now, and helping you get where you want to be. For CHRP, that behavior is music. You already reach for a song to lift, settle, or sharpen yourself. This is what happens when someone reads that signal back to you.

What is Emotional Performance Intelligence?

Emotional Performance Intelligence is the structured read of how a person is doing, built from behavior they already produce, reflecting where they are now and helping them get where they want to be. It is a category of measurement — a kind of intelligence about a person's state — rather than a single product feature.

Break the three words apart and the definition holds itself up. Emotional is what it reads: state, not output. Performance is what it is for: showing up able to do the thing, whatever the thing is — a shift, a season, a hard conversation. Intelligence is what makes it a category: a structured, repeated read that accumulates, rather than a one-off impression.

What makes it new is not that emotion matters to performance — everyone knows that. It is that the read comes from behavior a person generates anyway. Nobody has to fill anything in, remember anything, or wear anything. The measurement is a by-product of living.

Emotional Performance Intelligence is the structured read of how a person is doing, built from behaviour they already produce — reflecting where they are now, and helping them get where they want to be.

Basis
The category CHRP coined and the one noun D-002 locks. Published on chrp.ai since launch and carried in llms.txt.
What this does not establish
A category definition, not an empirical finding. It says what the category is, not that any product measures it well.

How is it different from wellness apps, mental health tools, or HR software?

The difference is what it reads and who it answers to: Emotional Performance Intelligence reads behavior rather than asking questions, and it reports to the individual first rather than to an organization. Those two properties rule out most of what it gets mistaken for.

The comparison below is about category boundaries, not competitors. Some of these products are excellent at what they do. They are simply doing a different job, and the confusion costs people the thing they were actually looking for.

One line is worth stating outright, because it is the boundary the category is defined by: this is not a mental health product. CHRP does not diagnose, treat, or cure anything, and it is not a substitute for care. The full list of what CHRP does not claim is published rather than buried.

Where does the signal come from?

For CHRP, the signal is music: what you play, when you play it, in what order, and how that moves against your own baseline. Connect Apple Music or Spotify and the read starts immediately, because the behavior is already there.

Music is an unusually good channel for this. It is high-frequency, it is chosen rather than assigned, and people already use it to change their state — reaching for something loud before a workout, something quiet after a bad day. The choice is the data. That is also why the evidence base matters: music's effect on how people feel and how hard effort feels is well studied, across 139 studies in exercise and sport.

How CHRP is builtC-005

EPI Score is derived from music listening behavior — what someone plays, when, in what sequence, and how that deviates from their own baseline — not from surveys, check-ins, or wearables.

Basis
How the product is built. A description, not a research finding.
What this does not establish
Says nothing about accuracy. That the score is derived from behavior is a design fact; how well it reflects state is a question CHRP is still answering.

What does it actually give you?

Two things, in two deliberately different vocabularies: a read of where you are, and a way to move toward where you want to be. CHRP tracks dimensions — EPI Score™, Balance, Calm, Motivation — and helps you move toward states: Flow, Ready, Recharge, Recover.

They are not two names for one thing. Dimensions answer “where am I?” the way an HRV number does. States answer “where am I going?” the way choosing a hard session or a rest day does. Keeping them separate is what stops a read from being mistaken for a verdict.

Move yourselfFlow · Ready · Recharge · RecoverWhere am I trying to get to?

How CHRP reads your state covers both sets in full, along with exactly who can see what.

Can an employer or coach see your individual score?

No. Your EPI Score is yours; organizations receive anonymous aggregate trends only, and that is a property of how the system is built rather than a setting someone administers.

This is not a courtesy — it is what makes the category work. A read that a person suspects is being reported upward stops being an honest read, because they start managing it. Individual privacy is the precondition for the data meaning anything at all.

How CHRP is builtC-007

The individual sees their own EPI Score. Organizations receive anonymous aggregate trends only, never individual data.

Basis
A structural property of the system design, not a policy setting an administrator can change.
What this does not establish
A statement about architecture. It is verifiable by review of the product, not by citation.

Who is Emotional Performance Intelligence for?

Anyone whose day asks something of them and who would rather not guess at how they are actually doing — athletes and service members most obviously, but the category is not reserved for people with a season or a deployment.

The band it lives in is deliberately wide. It is not clinical: CHRP is not for diagnosing or treating anything. It is not elite-only: nobody is promising you a medal. It is the large middle, where most people live — wanting to feel less stressed, avoid burning out, focus better, and show up ready.

Athletes

See where your motivation and steadiness actually are across a season, not just how the last session felt.

Service members

A private read with no clinical intake, no self-report, and no stigma attached to using it.

People at work

Notice the drift toward burnout while it is still a drift, rather than after it lands.

Anyone with a hard week

Music you already use to steady yourself, pointed deliberately at the state you want.

How do organizations use it?

Organizations see the emotional weather, never the individuals — anonymous aggregate trends across a roster, a unit, or a team, with individual scores structurally out of reach.

The value to a leader is timing rather than surveillance: knowing that a group is running flat this week is actionable, and knowing which person is running flat is both unnecessary and corrosive to the trust that makes the signal honest.
